Introduction to Multimedia Storytelling, Teaching Assistant, Fall 2018 to Spring 2019

  • Introduction to Multimedia Storytelling teaches students to develop multimedia journalism and strategic communication stories. Students learn to create and incorporate text, data, audio, photo, and video. I taught lab sections where students learned to use software like Final Cut Pro X and Photoshop to tell stories.

Journalistic Reporting and Writing, Teaching Assistant, Fall 2018 to Spring 2019

  • Journalistic Reporting and Writing teaches students to develop original journalistic and strategic communication writing skills. Students pitch stories, conduct primary and secondary research, and write stories about the local area. I taught lab sections where students learned and practiced skills like interviewing and writing different types of journalistic stories.

Principles of Strategic Communication, Teaching Assistant, Fall 2019

  • Principles of Strategic Communication teaches students introductory strategic communication concepts to prepare them for the creation of campaigns. Students learn to identify and develop strategies and tactics to achieve specific goals and outcomes.

Media Uses and Effects, Teaching Assistant, Fall 2016 to Spring 2018

  • Media Uses and Effects develops students’ media literacy skills by introducing them to communication theory and social scientific research methods. Students learn different approaches to study media and propose an original research project at the end of the semester to show their mastery of communication theory and research methods.

Integrated Marketing Communication Campaigns, Teaching Assistant, Fall 2015

  • Integrated Marketing Communication Campaigns asks students to showcase the skills they developed through Wichita State University’s Integrated Marketing Communication program through the development of a capstone project. Students work in teams develop an integrated marketing campaign for a local community partner.

Introduction to Human Communication, Teaching Assistant, Spring 2015 to Spring 2016

  • Introduction to Human Communication introduces students to key approaches to the study of communication, ranging from interpersonal communication to mass media. I regularly lectured to the roughly 175 students in the course.
